Laura began her career as a typist for Intelligent Office (now Williams Lea), quickly rising to the role of team leader. Celebrated for her speed and accuracy, Laura's passion for exceptional administrative support led her to a position as a legal secretary.
She honed her skills at the Glasgow-based high street firm, Livingstone Brown. There, she supported vulnerable clients through complex litigation, gaining expertise in processing legal aid applications and accounts.
Laura later transitioned to the corporate world, joining Shoosmiths in Edinburgh as PA to Rod Macphail and Andrew Foyle within their debt recovery team.
While working full-time, she earned three prestigious paralegal qualifications in criminal litigation, debt recovery and employment litigation from the University of Stirling and the University of Strathclyde.
Empowered by her experience, Laura confidently launched Brown Owl Legal Support®, enjoying the flexibility and diverse challenges it offers.
Outside of work, Laura is an avid runner (tackling distances from 5km to half marathons), a member of her local speakers' club, and an amateur Latin dancer.

Arwen Williamson

Arwen is an experienced legal secretary and transcriptionist. Based in the Inverness area, she worked for over 25 years in local legal offices and is familiar with most areas of law.
She now provides freelance remote secretarial, admin and transcription services for law firms, expert witnesses and other businesses, across Scotland and beyond. She prides herself on attention to detail and is quick to pick up terminology in new fields. As well as having a good knowledge of legal terms, she also has a certificate in medical terminology and regularly takes on typing projects in the medical field.
Arwen specialises in fast, accurate audio and copy typing. She can also assist with matters such as:
- Drafting and submission of various legal forms, including LBTT and Land Register forms
- Assistance with putting together and submitting Legal Aid accounts
- Creating document templates
- Proof reading of documents
- General admin and assistance with legal work or other office work
Arwen also conducts property viewings in the Inverness area and has some availability for in-office temping.
